Shopping in the Historic Area of Colonial Williamsburg is both a learning experience and a means to acquire some wonderful 18th-century possessions. We'll even deliver your purchases to your room at any of the official Colonial Williamsburg hotels or to the Visitor Center.
Historic Area Shops
You'll find three-cornered hats and decorative bonnets, quills and ink, block printed stationery and sealing wax, candles, soaps, hams, jams, brass, pewter and jewelry in our shops in the Historic Area. Please call Colonial Williamsburg at (757) 229-1000 and ask for the store by name.
McKenzie's
Cure your ills with remedies similar to the ones Dr. Kenneth McKenzie purveyed in the 1740s and 1750s-medicinal herbs, spices, candied ginger, rock candy, and horehound drops.
Colonial Nursery
Shop for herbs, flowers, seasonal greens and wreaths along with clay flowerpots, bird bottles and watering cans.
Greenhow Store
Select a memento from the wrought iron, willow baskets, fine imported porcelain, floorcloths, fabrics, cooper's items, tinware, craftsmen's tools, and other goods similar to those sold by Mr. Greenhow in the 18th century.
Mary Dickinson Shop
Adorn yourself with a beribboned hat, silver or gold jewelry, or embroidered stockings like those milliner Mary Dickinson sold in the 18th century.
Colonial Post Office
Catch up on the news from 1774 with a copy of the Virginia Gazette, select a print for the living room, or replenish your letter-writing supplies. This store is also a United States Post Office, so you may send letters and postcards hand-canceled with a replica of the 18th-century Williamsburg postmark.

Purchase silver and gold jewelry, sterling silver hollowware, and other items inspired by the 18th century.
M. Dubois Grocer
Choose from such traditional southern favorites as smoked hams, peanuts, preserves, wine, Chowning's Tavern Ale, and King's Arms Tavern root beer in this reconstructed store on the site where Monsieur Dubois operated a grocer's shop in 1779. Learn more.

Tarpley's Store
Stock up on imported English creamware, first made popular by Josiah Wedgwood in the mid-18th century. Goods imported from England as well as objects handcrafted by Colonial Williamsburg tradespeople are sold here.
