Step back in time and savor a dining experience inspired by the legacy of Martha Washington, often called “America’s Mother.” As the nation’s first First Lady, Martha Washington played a pivotal role in shaping the traditions of hospitality in early America, presiding over Mount Vernon with warmth, elegance, and a deep appreciation for fine food.
Executive Chef Julianne Gutierrez has carefully crafted a menu that pays homage to the dishes that graced Martha Washington’s table, featuring ingredients and recipes reflective of 18th-century dining traditions. Begin with a nod to Mount Vernon’s renowned hams, followed by a comforting and refined chicken fricassee, a staple of the Washingtons’ household. Conclude with Martha Washington’s famed Great Cake, a celebratory dessert rich with citrus, currants, and brandy.
